Lionel Messi gives details of the injury keeping him out of US tour
After his COPA America exploits, and then an attempted physical attack at a night club in Ibiza.
Lionel Messi finally reported back for club duty.
It was his first official day back in training. But it didn’t go too well for the superstar. His return was short-lived.
He suffered a calf injury in his right leg. This, unfortunately, means he will not be available to travel to the USA with the rest of his teammates.
The Catalonian club released a statement saying:
“Messi, who had returned from his summer break for training on Monday, withdrew from the session due to discomfort in his right leg.”
“Tests carried out have diagnosed a Grade One calf strain for the Argentine.”
“Messi will remain in Barcelona and will now not travel to the USA for the club’s tour.”
“His availability to come back to action will be dictated by his recovery from the injury.”
In a message to the American fans Messi said:
“I was looking forward to getting started.”
“Unfortunately I have had a setback in my first training session that’s going to rule me out for a short while.”
“I wanted to be with the team and the fans that follow us in the U.S. ”
“This time it’s not to be but we will see each other soon.”
