Harry Maguire is likely to leave Leicester City this summer but the club’s manager says that the defender has been very professional about things.
While Harry Maguire could end up leaving the Foxes for Manchester United, the England international has not had his head turned by the approach.
While the likes of Neymar and Laurent Koscielny have created issues for their respective clubs in a bid to leave, Harry Maguire has been very professional about things. While Leicester City’s demands may seem a little unreasonable, the Englishman has not even tried to force a move.
Even though he has informed the club that he wants to leave, Harry Maguire is going to respect the club’s wishes. And Brendan Rodgers says that while the club has received two bids for the star player, they aren’t anywhere near the player’s valuation.
“Harry has been absolutely brilliant about this right from the word go. He’s a top, top player and a top guy,” Rodgers said according to the Daily Star.
“I think it’s important the supporters know that. I’ve been in this situation before with players and it’s not always easy but Harry has been absolutely superb.
“We’ve had a chat about it, obviously.
“He’s happy and I tip my hat to him for the way he’s dealt with all this because it can be unsettling.”
Rodgers added: “I’m relaxed about it all. We understand the situation from all points of view because United and City are big clubs, but unless they meet our valuation he won’t be sold and it’s as simple as that.”
Harry Maguire even played Leicester City’s warmup game against Scunthorpe alongside new signing Ayoze Perez.
Rodgers added: “It was Harry’s call – he wanted to play, even though he hadn’t been very well. That says it all really, he’s a total professional. It was totally his decision.”
