The big man from Newcastle is battling with injuries since the return to his most beloved club, Newcastle United.

Steve Bruce provided an injury update for his team ahead of Sunday’s clash against Wolverhampton.

In the update, the bad news arrived in form of Carroll and Fabian Schar, although they aren’t a long-term issue.

Bruce spoke in the press conference ahead of the match, and quoting 101greatgoals, said:

“They’re not serious at all. Andy picked up a groin strain last Saturday, and Fab has a bit of a sore knee that he’s been playing with for a few weeks. They’ll not be fit for Sunday.”

However, Florian Lejeune and Matt Ritchie are expected to return from injury very soon. Ritchie is an especially important piece of the puzzle for the Newcastle side.

“The good news is that Flo [Lejeune] is close to a return, and so is Matt Ritchie as well. He’s been bouncing around the training ground all week.”

While Newcastle is looking to get out of their slump, as the team is in the relegation zone, tied with Southampton at eight points.

Despite their bad form this season, Newcastle will lurk for their chance as Wolves had to play Europa League match this Thursday.

Even though Wolverhampton has one of the best fitness and medical operators in the league, the long trips have to catch up with Nuno’s team eventually.
