The Portugal international is reportedly close to signing for Manchester United as the English giants look to continue their summer overhaul.

Manchester United are clearly in dire need of a mixture of youth and experience. Following a shambolic end to the Premier League campaign last season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to inject fresh blood into the squad.

The Old Trafford giants have already acquired Wales international, Daniel James from Swansea City. However, the move for the speedy winger is just the start of what is going to be a busy transfer window.

Now, it has been reported that Manchester United may finally sign Bruno Fernandes from Sporting CP. The young midfielder has attracted a lot of interest from Premier League teams in recent weeks. Initially, Manchester City were reportedly close to signing the playmaker. However, it appears that Manchester United may have taken the lead.

Director of Italian outlet Radio Rossonera, Pietro Balzano Prota is confident that the two clubs have already reached an agreement.

The respected football journalist tweeted that some details such as commissions and ad-ons are being finalized.

Indeed if things go as suggested, it would be a huge coup for Manchester United. The Red Devils have so far been left frustrated in their efforts to sign top talent. Matthijs de Ligt was reportedly close to signing for the English giants but the youngster is yet to make a decision.

Paolo Dybala was another player interested in signing but no updates have been given on that front.

However, the arrival of Fernandes is definitely going to be a great bit of business for the Red Devils. The Portuguese scored 20 goals and provided 13 assists in Portugal last season and is going to add a new dimension to what should be called a rather dour midfield.
