While he has clearly shown his intent on leaving Sporting CP, Bruno Fernandes is still waiting for the Red Devils to sign him.
Throughout the summer, Bruno Fernandes had been heavily linked with a move away from Sporting Lisbon. Following sensational displays for club and country last season, the Portugal international was the source of interest from some of the best clubs in Europe.
The likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham were reportedly interested in signing the young midfielder. However, things gained more clarity after some weeks and Bruno Fernandes decided to say yes to a move to Manchester United.
And while Sporting are not too keen on letting their prized asset leave, they know that they cannot hold on to him forever.
The player has his heart set on a move to Old Trafford according to The Daily Star. But it appears that the Red Devils are being very slow in finalizing a deal. Ed Woodward has reportedly been bargaining with Sporting’s top hierarchy for a very long time which has held up the move so far.
While there are other clubs still interested in his services, Bruno Fernandes only wants a move to Old Trafford.
According to Nicholas Schira, the player is not going to entertain any other offer.
“The first #BrunoFernandes’ choice remain #ManchesterUnited: he is waiting the agreement between #RedDevils and Sporting,” he wrote on Twitter.
However, it seems that any move would depend on Paul Pogba leaving the club. While the Frenchman is keen on an exit, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still not giving up on his star player. The Norwegian is hopeful that the World Cup winner stays.
And if the Red Devils do manage to convince the midfielder to stay, Bruno Fernandes might have to wait for a year or might even decide to sign for another team.
