Labbadia was at Wolfsburg when a young Osimenh joined them and he remains impressed with the Nigerian forward’s tireless efforts.
After a great start to the season at LOSC Lille, Victor Osimhen saw his form leave him. However, it was enough for Napoli to shell out €50 million for his services.
The 21-year-old forward will now ply his trade at the San Paolo and his former coach, Bruno Labbadia cannot be happier.
The current Herta Berlin manager lauded Osimhen for his preparations and efforts on the pitch.
Labbadia stated that Gennaro Gattuso has his work cut out for him as Osimhen would fit in seamlessly in the Partenopei dressing room. The German manager believes the expensive recruit has everything in the bag to be a success.
“When he has the ball on his feet, he is formidable and in one on one he is very strong,” Labbadia was quoted by Goal, “and then he is very good in running without the ball to be found free by his companions.
“He knows how to descend in every reality, he always gives 200 percent,” the German coach added. “He makes a great central striker because he is the classic number 9.
“Not only that, he played outside for me in 4-2-3-1. He was young and he’s fast, but it is in front of goal that he can make the difference because he has a great flair for the goal.”
Napoli are still involved in UEFA Champions League. They travel to Camp Nou for their Round of 16 second leg encounter against Barcelona.
