Gianluigi Buffon doubts team-mate Edinson Cavani will switch from Paris Saint-Germain to Napoli due to their greater chances of winning the Champions League
The Uruguayan striker’s future at PSG was in doubt over the summer, amid reported interest from Real Madrid and Chelsea.
Cavani has also been involved in a number of public clashes with Neymar at Paris following his arrival from Barcelona in 2017.
Recently Napoli have been linked with a reunion with Cavani, who spent a memorable three seasons at the Stadio San Paolo.
Club president Aurelio De Laurentiis even announced that the door’s open for Cavani’s return – if that’s what he truly seeks.
But Buffon doubts PSG will lose their all-time record goalscorer anytime soon.
“I often talk about Italy with him,” The Italian goalkeeper told Italia 1’s Tiki Taka show.
“He is very close to Napoli for the love of the Neapolitan people. He is not immune [to the interest Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis], but I think that, at the moment, PSG gives him more of a chance to go to the end in the Champions League.
“Not that Napoli doesn’t have a chance, but I think Cavani will prefer to try it with us until June.”
Cavani scored 104 goals in 138 appearances across all competitions for Napoli and won the Coppa Italia during the 2011/12 campaign.
