Paris Saint-Germain forwards Kylian Mbappe and Neymar are in the same class as Cristiano Ronaldo, says Gianluigi Buffon
The Italian goalkeeper missed out on the chance to play alongside Ronaldo at Juventus this season after ending his 17-year association with the club in June.
Despite being 40 years old, Buffon made a surprise switch to PSG to team-up with Mbappe and Neymar at the French capital.
Therefore, Buffon isn’t upset over the missed chance on playing with Ronaldo in Turin.
“I’ve played with a lot of champions, and I always want to test myself with the best, including him,” Buffon told Corriere della Sera.
“It’s not like there are none in Paris though, [Kylian] Mbappe and Neymar have that kind of pedigree.”
Both PSG and Juventus qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League by finishing top of their groups.
The Ligue 1 champions will meet Manchester United for their last-16 tie and could eventually go up against Buffon’s old club should they beat against Atletico Madrid.
“It would be beautiful and strange,” said Buffon on facing Juventus in Europe.
“But I’d go back to my stadium, among my fans, who I left in an emotional manner. A reunion.
“If it was the final though it’d be hard to manage things after the game. I’d want to have the freedom to cheer wildly in case of victory.”
Buffon has never won the Champions League before in his career with Juventus having last won the competition in 1996.
