Italian legend Gianluigi Buffon named his pick when it comes to the world’s top three goalkeepers in football
The 40-year-old, who also plays as a keeper, is showing no signs of slowing down after completing a surprise move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
Buffon has since made six starts in all competitions for PSG with the club having won all 10 of their opening Ligue 1 fixtures.
The 2006 World Cup winner is still regarded among the world’s finest keepers after 24 years of professional football.
Now Franceâs Club Canal Foot asked him to name the top three goalkeepers, which will surely stir a debate.
“You want three names but I will forget 100â, Buffon said.
âI will say [Manuel] Neuer of course, [David] De Gea and [Jan] Oblak⊠then there are others. [Thibaut] Courtois, [Keylor] Navas. We are in an era where there are many great keepers.â
Despite being in his list, Buffon revealed that Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois was fortunate to win the 2018 World Cup Golden Glove award over France captain Hugo Lloris.
âI already said that Lloris deserved to win the title. He was exceptional. Courtois had a very big World Cup,” said Buffon.
“Lloris had a very big World Cup and he won it. I did not understand.â
