Celtic picked right back up from where they left off last season as they shot straight to the top of the Scottish Premiership.

A hattrick from Odsonne Edouard helped Celtic run out convincing winners over Hamilton in the first game of the 2020/21 Scottish Premiership.

The defending Champions are going for their tenth league title in a row.

Neil Lennon’s side had seen main challengers Rangers run out winners against Aberdeen yesterday. It was crucial his side got off to a positive side to ensure Steven Gerrard’s men gained no momentum early on.

While the Hoops were far from convincing to start with, despite finding back of the net in the 20th minute through Edouard and then in the 31st with a strike from Frimpong.

Lowly Hamilton pulled one back in the 34th minute to send the teams in just a goal apart at the break.

Whatever Lennon told his players at halftime it worked, as the defending champions came out and wrapped up proceedings early on in the second half.

Within eight minutes of the restart, Edouard completed his hattrick with a goal in the 49th and another in the 53rd.

The thumping was complete in the 90th minute when Klimala made it five.

Lennon will be hoping that despite dominating possession his side a far more convincing as the season starts to pick up pace.

He will also be hoping he does not lose Edouard to a bigger club too and the French hotshot is a much sought after commodity.
