Sergio Busquets has criticized Barcelona for being shortsighted with their squad planning after the draw against Napoli.
Antoine Griezmann‘s equalizing goal saved some of FC Barcelona’s blushes as they were quite clearly the second-best when they took to pitch last night in Naples.
Despite having found an away goal, Barca still have a lot to worry about welcoming Napoli at Camp Nou the next month.
Sergio Busquets will remain suspended for the return leg after picking up a yellow card in the second half. So will be Arturo Vidal who was sent off after a challenge on Mario Rui.
To add insult to injury, Gerrard Pique limped off with an ankle injury in the closing minutes.
Barcelona are also missing Ousmane Dembele and Luis Suarez following their long term injury.
Quique Setien was forced to include academy players just to make up the numbers last night. Barca will be forced to stretch their small squad even further when they face Napoli in the second leg.
And Sergio Busquets has criticized his side for failing to take preventive measures for avoiding such scenarios.
“[Nelson] Semedo and I were one booking away from a ban so we were always running that risk [of suspension],” Busquets said, as ESPN reports.
“We hope Pique’s injury is nothing serious.
“But we will take on the second leg with what we have. We don’t have a deep squad because, unfortunately, that’s how it was planned.”
