Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland is being pursued by both Arsenal and Liverpool as both clubs look to freshen up their squads in the summer transfer window
The 24 year-old England international has caught the attention of both Arsene Wenger and Jurgen Klopp after putting in some strong performances for Stoke and England over the past year, as reported on The Sun.
Despite his young age, Butland has already had at least a decade of top-class goalkeeping and his performances in the Premier League allowed him to break into the England national squad at just 19 year’s old in 2012, before becoming the first choice goalkeeper in 2015. It is believed that Stoke are prepared to listen to bids of around £40m.
Despite having Petr Cech, who put in a strong performance for Arsenal in their 1-0 defeat to Tottenham on Saturday,Wenger is believed to be on the lookout for another goalkeeper amid fear, that at 36 years old, Cech may now be past his prime.
Klopp, meanwhile, has lost confidence in Simon Mignolet with the Belgium having fallen out of favor at Anfield recently due to Loris Karius. Despite becoming the new number one recently, Klopp still has some doubts in regards to Karius and is now looking into long-term options for the club.
