AC Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has heaped praise on manager Stefano Pioli while adding that the Italian has improved all the players in the team.
Hakan Calhanoglu is pleased wit Stefano Pioli and the impact he has made on Milan players since his appointment.
The Italian manager was expected to step down for Rangnick in the summer but a remarkable run of form gave the club second thought.
A number of Milan players have massively improved under new management, Calhanoglu being one of them.
An inconsistent output last season has been mirrored with eight goals and eight assists for the Turkish international this term.
Calhanoglu was sure to praise Pioli for his new-found form.
“He’s a very important coach for me and my teammates. He also wants to listen to how we think, even on the pitch,” Calhanoglu told Sky Sport 24 via Football-Italia.
“When we are video analysing, he wants to know what we think.”
“He did a great job in a difficult period, he trained us well. We all worked well with his staff and now we are a team.”
“We are the real Milan, the one of these months. We always want to win, we have a great mentality, a lot of passion, thanks to Zlatan who helps us.”
“He’s an important player for us, he helps us a lot. It’s not over yet, we look forward to next season and we are ready.”
On Pioli’s contract extension, Calhanoglu has no doubt Milan made the right choice.
“I was very happy,” he added. “It was a difficult period for him. Everyone wrote about Rangnick, but he was very professional the whole time.”
“He’s working very well to help us, to make the team reach as high as possible. I’m very happy for him.”
