Italian legend Fabio Cannavaro is using his time in China to prepare himself for a return to Europe as a manager.
As a player, Fabio Cannavaro’s resume reads like the who is who of footballing royalty.
He played for Real Madrid, Juventus, Inter Milan, Napoli and Parma.
His accomplishments as a player were no mean feat either.
He won the World Cup, two La Liga titles, the Italian Cup and the UEFA Cup and of course the Ballon d’Or.
However, Cannavaro the manager has opted for far less glamorous clubs.
In an interview with Sky Sport Italia, he insisted all this is an apprenticeship.
He has his eyes on a return to the very top but now as a manager.
“Coaching in Italy? I’m working towards that.”
“I’m doing my apprenticeship.”
“I won the second division in China, I brought a team to promotion and then to the Champions League.”
“Now I can fight to win something. It’s a fantastic experience.”
“My goal is to try to get back to Europe and compare myself with the top managers.”
“But to do this I have to be ready, to have the experience.”
