Carles Perez says he is still trying to wrap his head around his abrupt departure from FC Barcelona in January.
AS Roma winger Carles Perez has admitted that leaving Barcelona was a daunting task for him but he has already put the club in the past and is looking to make a name for himself in Italy.
On the deadline day of the winter transfer window, Carles Perez made a switch to Roma from Barca on a season-long loan deal.
So far, the 22-year old has played three games in Serie A. He also scored his first goal in his new colors last night to help Roma get past Gent in the Round of 32 tie of the Europa League against Gent.
As Football Italia reports, Perez revealed that he was already told by the Barca coach that he was no longer a part of his plans at the Camp Nou.
“My departure is difficult to explain, I don’t even know what happened,” Perez said.
“They didn’t give me the explanations they owed me. The coach told me that he didn’t count on me because there were other players in the squad. Even if they told me this with only 10 days left to the closure of the transfer window.
“Barcelona is now my past, Roma is my present, and I want to be important here.”
