Carles Puyol played all his life with Barcelona in the Spanish La Liga, from the youth ranks to the senior squad.
Spanish defender Carles Puyol played for Barcelona all his career.
He joined the Blaugrana youth system in 1995, only to be called to the C team in 1996.
The next year he started playing for the B team until he was called to the senior squad in 1999.
He played for Barcelona until 2014 when he retired.
But during those years, he was tempted by arch-rivals Real Madrid to joining their ranks.
“Even twice they wanted to sign me but I was already in the best club in the world,” he explained to Marca.
“I wanted to win titles at Barça and that’s why I stayed.”
“The first time was in the season following my marking to Luis Figo (the day of his return to Camp Nou, in the 2001-2002 season),” he explains.
“Camacho signed for Madrid and loved me and Ronaldinho.”
“On both occasions the response was negative,” he said about the 2004-2005 season.
