Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal insists team-mate Isco will not hide away from his difficulties at the club

The Spain international has struggled to establish himself under new coach Santiago Solari with reports suggesting that his time at the club could be coming to an end.

During Real’s shock 3-0 home defeat to CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on Wednesday, Isco refused to accept the captain’s armband from Marcelo and was whistled by fans during the game.

Isco then later went to confront the discontent Real supporters at the Santiago Bernabeu after their biggest European home defeat.

Karanka says Mourinho would have been perfect for a Madrid return

The former Real Madrid assistant manager backed Jose Mourinho, saying he would have been just as good as Zinedine Zidane is.

“I didn’t see if he faced off with the fans or not,” Carvajal told Movistar, via Sport.

“But the one thing I can say about Isco is that I’ve known him for many years and he’s a brave player, when things aren’t going well he asks for the ball, and he doesn’t disappear, and you have to value that too.”

Real will next host 19th-place side Rayo Vallecano in La Liga this Saturday at the Bernabeu.
