Casillas hails Zidane’s return and Militao’s move to Madrid

Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas has praised the capture of fellow FC Porto teammate Eder Militao and equally shared his thoughts on the return of Zinedine Zidane.

Militao recently completed a 50 million euros move to Los Blancos, but Casillas believes the Brazilian defender has the quality to flourish in the Spanish capital.

He played down the price tag and suggested the player has a big future ahead.

“It’s fantastic management by Real Madrid,” the ex-Los Blancos goalkeeper said via Marca.

“They’ve taken a very good player with a huge future. I’m convinced he’ll succeed at Real Madrid.”

Casillas went on to speak about Militao’s qualities, having worked closely with the defender at Porto.

Iker Casillas denies he’s retired from football again

Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas refuted fresh claims he has hung up his gloves following a heart attack in training at FC Porto last month.

“Porto gambled on him when he was very young and he showed a big personality,” Casillas added.

“He’s very noble and wants to do things the right way, I’m just a little afraid for his adaptation because in Spain it’s different.

“I always tell him that when he arrived in Madrid he’ll realise what it is.”

When asked about Zinedine Zidane’s return to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Casillas went on to back his former teammate to succeed again.

“I love Zidane returning,” he said. “I’m very happy about it, but it’s clear that his arrival, like [Santiago] Solari’s before, means that things haven’t been going well.

“But Zidane’s arrival is a reason for hope and energy for all Madridistas after everything he achieved in recent years.”
