Cassano has been battling a contract dispute with Sampdoria since 2016 and has not been able to play professionally again

Italian forward Antonio Cassano has played with the best teams in the world.

The former Bari footballer played for Roma, Real Madrid, AC Milan, and Internazionale Milan.

But he last played a competitive match in May 2016 with Sampdoria. He had a contract dispute with the club and went to Verona, a team he left after two weeks of pre-season training.

Now, he’s training again with Italian Lega Serie C team Virtus Entella.

“I am super, super happy to be back training again,” the 36-year-old player was quoted by Football Italia.

“I thank president [Antonio] Gozzi for the opportunity that he has given me. We’ll see how it goes day by day and then we’ll make a decision.”

He has no contract with Virtus Entella, but he chose this club because is close to his home in Genoa.
