According to Catalan show called Catalunya Radio, FC Barcelona and Ajax have already reached an agreement for midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

After so much time of negotiations and not coming up with a final decision, it appears that midfielder Frenkie de Jong finally decided to play for FC Barcelona.

There was a lot of speculation about the 21-year old player having second thoughts about his future after he was tempted by Paris Saint-Germain with a massive offer, but the player finally decided to choose the more historic club over the one that is relatively more recent in terms of being competitive among Europe’s best clubs.

There were other offers from clubs like Manchester City, Juventus, and the French giants but De Jong’s heart was always placed at FC Barcelona.

At least that is what journalist Oriol Domenech from Catalunya Radio reported this Tuesday on a show called ‘El Club de la Mitjanit” (The Midnight Club) on Esport3, which has direct contact with FC Barcelona’s high ranking officials and they usually have reliable information about the latest in regards to transfers the club makes.

Domenech mentions that the player’s agent has called all the other interested clubs, to inform them that his client decided to play for Barcelona and there was nothing they could do to change his mind.

At first glance, it appears that the Catalan club will attempt to sign De Jong during this very winter transfer window, president Josep Maria Bartomeu will travel to Holland early on Wednesday alongside Oscar Grau and Pep Segura in order to close the deal with Ajax.

If the Dutch club doesn’t comply to the proposal from the Catalan club, there is a possibility that the player will accept the deal but will remain at the Eredivisie club for the rest of the season and will make the transfer official in June later this year.

It has also been disclosed that the Dutch player will position himself amongst the highest paid players of the squad, right next to the wage that players such as Ousmane Dembele and Philipe Coutinho were when they first arrived in Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool, respectively.

Frenkie de Jong is arguably one of the most desired players in European football today, as he is widely considered as one of the biggest reasons why the Netherlands have returned to elite football in such a short period of time.
