Former Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla reveals his old club has been asking him about Villarreal team-mates Pau Torres and Samuel Chukwueze.
Cazorla left the Gunners after six years to return to where he got his big break in football, Villarreal.
The Spaniard still has close ties with his old club, and the Gunners have apparently been making good use of that relationship.
Villarreal has not been standout this season. But they have at least been consistent and maintain a respectable eighth in La Liga still within touching distance of the European places.
There has been a lot of attention paid to two of their younger prospects who have become core members of the team
23-year-old Spanish defender Pau Torres and 20-year-old Nigerian midfielder Samuel Chukwueze.
The pair have had impressive seasons.
In an interview with Marca, Cazorla admits he himself has been impressed by the youngsters, but so have his old side.
The veteran 35-year-old admits they have been in touch for the low down on the pair.
“They ask me about them and think they can make the jump to the Premiership tomorrow.”
“Yes, friends from Arsenal especially.”
“It’s good that great teams are interested in young players from Villarreal, but for the moment I tell them to leave them alone here.”
“They still have to take steps forward. They both have a great personality, and their feet are on the ground.”
While Arsenal may feel they have the edge, they are not the only interested party in the pair.
