Dani Ceballos and Nicolas Pepe helped Arsenal secure a 2-1 victory against Sheffield United and advance through to the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
Sheffield United appeared to have taken the lead early in the game through John Lundstram’s close-range header. However, the goal was ruled out on VAR’s consultation.
Arsenal broke the deadlock at the 25-minute mark. Alexandre Lacazette won a penalty for Chris Basham’s late challenge which Nicolas Pepe cooly converted.
The home side were deprived of the opportunity to make the scoreline level when another one of their goals was canceled. John Egan found the back of the net following a free-kick but the VAR found David McGoldrick to be marginally offside.
Sheffield were finally able to score following a poor clearance from Sead Kolasinac led to Shkodran Mustafi unintentionally setting up McGoldrick, who slot the ball home for an 87th-minute equalizer.
It was not long, however, before the Gunners handed them another blow. The match looked to be heading into extra time but substitute Dani Ceballos‘ low shot from a tight angle from helped his side progress into the semi-finals.
