Retried Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech admits Wayne Rooney’s unpredictability made him his toughest opponent.

Petr Cech had a top-flight football career that spanned 20 years. The Czech Republic International played against many of Europe’s elite football teams.

With a career played at such a high level, he obviously played against some of the world’s top footballers too.

However, as far as Cech is concerned there were none tougher than Wayne Rooney.

Speaking to Chelsea’s official website, he admits the Manchester United forward was a tricky customer who you had to wary of.

He said:

 “Wayne Rooney.”

“Every time we played against United I had to make sure I was aware every time he had the ball.”

“He was very unpredictable and very clever.”

“He is a guy who can chase, who can fight, who can run, who is clever with his shot.”

“He could score from the halfway line, he could try and chip you if you were too high.”

“That was a challenge I enjoyed.”

It is quite a compliment to Rooney, for Cech to hold him in such high regard. Rooney is undoubtedly one of the best there has ever been in the business.
