Former Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar has revealed that Jose Mourinho once texted him to say he’d “stop more shots with one arm” than Iker Casillas

During the Portuguese’s three year spell in charge at Real Madrid, Mourinho had a falling out with Casillas with the Spaniard later being dropped to the bench at the end of the 2012/13 season.

At the time of the infamous feud, Casillas was still highly regarded and was widely considered one of the greatest goalkeepers throughout all of Europe.

Cesar started in goal for Brazil in the 2013 Confederations Cup final against Casillas’ Spain with the five-time World Cup winners winning 3-0  to lift the trophy.

After being named the goalkeeper of the tournament, Cesar famously collected the award wearing Casillas’ shirt – much to the disbelief of Mourinho.

“When I got to the dressing room, I saw a message from Mourinho on my phone.” Cesar told SporTV.

“He had problems with Casillas at Real Madrid and the message was: ‘You’re crazy, he’s the one who should wear your shirt – not you with his!’ Then he told me that I’d stop more shots with one arm than Casillas.”

Cesar last represented Brazil in their infamous 7-1 defeat to Germany in the semi-finals of the 2014 World Cup.
