The draws for the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, semi-finals and final took place today. Some mouth-watering ties lie in wait already.

The draws for the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, semi-finals and final took place today. It was held at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

Prior to the draw, four teams had already advanced to the quarter-finals. Atalanta, Atlético, Leipzig and Paris Saint-Germain. Hence there are still four round of ties to be concluded.

Chelsea / Bayern München
Napoli (ITA) / Barcelona
Real Madrid (ESP) / Manchester City
Lyon (FRA) / Juventus

However, we already have some pretty interesting games ahead of us and clubs learn their fate on their way to the Champions League final.

In what could be the pick of the draw, a potential Barcelona vs Bayern clash awaits.

Quarter-final 1: Real Madrid / Manchester City vs Lyon / Juventus

Quarter-final 2: RB Leipzig vs Atletico Madrid

Quarter-final 3: Napoli / FC Barcelona vs Chelsea / Bayern Munich

Quarter-final 4: Atalanta vs Paris Saint Germain

This year’s competition would take a different turn as the general football calendar has seen an upset.

As announced by UEFA, the Champions League quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will be played as a straight knockout tournament in Lisbon, Portugal in August. The only exemption are the yet to be concluded ties which will go ahead in their normal designated venues.

All these ties will be single-leg fixtures. The games will be split between Benfica’s Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica (which will host the final) and Sporting CP’s Estádio José Alvalade.

7–8 August: Round of 16 second legs
12–15 August: Quarter-finals (Lisbon)
18–19 August: Semi-finals (Lisbon)
23 August: Final (Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica, Lisbon)

The 23rd of August is the date for the final showdown. It makes an anxious six-week wait as we all watch and see who will lift the Champions League crown in Lisbon.
