Changes must be made at Bayern, warns Alaba

David Alaba has warned Bayern Munich that they must be prepared to make changes at the squad in order to ensure progress is made for next season

The Bavarians won their sixth successive Bundesliga crown in dominant fashion this term, but they suffered a humiliating defeat against Stuttgart in their final league game of the season and they later lost the DFB Cup final 3-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday in what was Jupp Heynckes’ final match in charge.

Bayern were also knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid in the semi-final, after failing to capitalise on their chances.

Frankfurt boss Niko Kovac will be coming to Munich in the summer to replace the retiring Heynckes ahead of what should be an action-packed summer for the majority of the Bayern stars with the World Cup beginning next month.

Speaking after their 3-1 defeat at Berlin’s Olympiastadion, Alaba warned that the mistakes they made this season cannot be repeated.

Lewandowski reaches 200-goal mark for Bayern Munich

Robert Lewandowski was pleased to get on the scoresheet again by registering his 200th Bayern Munich goal in a 3-0 win over Red Star Belgrade.

“Unfortunately there were some mistakes that we’ll have to cut out next season,” said the defender, according to Bundesliga.

“We’ll have to look at things next season. But basically, we have to change something.”

“It’s clear, one trophy isn’t enough,” Thomas Müller added.
