Chelsea has reportedly agreed to a deal with Juventus to sign Gonzalo Higuain on loan until the end of the season.
It is believed that the deal could then be extended for another one more year subject to certain conditions.
Higuain has been on loan at AC Milan from Juventus for the first half of the campaign, with an option to buy at the end of the season.
Reports in the Italian press say that Chelsea’s chief-executive Marina Granovskaia remains unconvinced the Argentina international is the answer to the club’s problems in front of goal.
Higuain came off the bench in the 70th minute as AC Milan suffered a 1-0 Super Cup defeat to Juventus in Saudi Arabia.
Over the weekend Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso appeared to confirm Higuain was keen to leave club, saying, as quoted by Sky Sports:
“When a player makes up his mind it becomes hard to convince them otherwise”.
However, he has since backtracked on those comments: “He still hasn’t told me he wants to leave, I am still waiting. You know what I mean.”
