Timo Werner insists there were other clubs who were after him but Chelsea convinced him early on that they were the club for him.
Timo Werner is swapping the Bundesliga and RB Leipzig for the Premier League and Chelsea.
The Stamford Bridge club activated the striker’s release clause to secure the young German international’s signature.
Given Werner’s form, he has been linked with several of Europe’s elite.
Speaking to Sportbuzzer he said:
“I agreed a few weeks ago.”
“The whole thing was quite unproblematic because I had a lot of time to think about it before the corona period.”
“It’s no secret that there were several offers.”
When asked about the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, and Inter Milan all expressing interest, he was not naming names but confirmed there were others.
“There were some top clubs that fought for me.”
“The entire Chelsea-London package was the best for me, my game, and my career.”
If Jurgen Klopp does not value the likes of Timo Werner as good enough to break the bank to strengthen his Premier League champions squad, then who?
