Mateo Kovacic has signed for the Blues on a permanent basis after spending last season on loan from Real Madrid.
Mateo Kovacic has signed for Chelsea permanently after the youngster impressed on his loan stay at the Stamford Bridge last season. The Croatia international signed for Real Madrid a few years back from Inter Milan but wasn’t able to nail down a regular starting spot in the Spanish capital.
And after enjoying his time at Chelsea last season, Mateo Kovacic has chosen to move to England permanently. With Chelsea’s transfer ban in effect, this is going to be a very important deal for the club.
“I really enjoyed my season on loan with Chelsea,” he said according to The Daily Star.
“I feel comfortable at the club and like London and the Premier League very much.
“I am very happy to be able to join permanently.
“We had a successful year, winning the Europa League and I hope I can make a big contribution in the coming seasons.”
And Chelsea director, Marina Granovskaia is also happy to have signed Mateo Kovacic on a permanent basis.
“Mateo proved what an accomplished player he is during his season on loan with us,” she said.
“And we are delighted to welcome him to the club on a permanent basis.
“He already possesses extensive experience at club and international level and we are sure he will be a big success with Chelsea over the next five years.”
While the club is still without a manager, the Blues are trying to get their summer business done. A few hours ago, Chelsea announced the departure of five players. Gary Cahill was one of the departed players.
However, with Mateo Kovacic now at the club for the next five years, it is clear that the Blues will have a solid playmaker available for selection for next season and beyond.
