Ralf Rangnick, who is currently in charge of RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga, is being considered by Chelsea as the man to replace the Italian.
RB Leipzig have been flying high under the guidance of Ralf Rangnick. The German has made the Germans one of the most exciting teams in the Bundesliga. However, it appears that it might not be the case any longer.
Reports from the German newspaper Bild claim that Chelsea are looking at the profile of Rangnick. The Blues feel that he could be the man to replace the departing Sarri.
With Chelsea set to lose the Italian’s services to Juventus, it is highly important for them to sign a new manager quickly.
60 year old Ralf Rangnick is already going to leave his role as the club’s manager. He’s set to become the club’s ownership’s head of sports development. But that could all change, keeping in mind the attraction of managing in the Premier League.
Last season, RB Leipzig finish third in the league standings and lost the German Cup final to Bayern Munich.
Moreover, Rangnick has a lot of experience with managing. He has spent his time at Schalke and Hoffenheim and also worked as Leipzig’s sporting director. Clearly his diverse experience has made him a great candidate for the role at Stamford Bridge.
While Chelsea are very much interested in bringing club legend Frank Lampard, Rangnick seems to be a more logical choice. Lampard’s start to managerial career has been great. In his first season, he brought Derby County to the cusp of English Premier League.
However, just a year or so in management may not be enough. At a club like Chelsea, expectations would be different. Throw in the fact that there is a transfer ban, Lampard will be pushed to his limit in order to get the best out of what he has.
