Bayern defender Jerome Boateng is set to be subject of a transfer battle between Chelsea and Arsenal this summer.

Boateng was heavily linked with a move away from Bayern Munich in January.

His playing time reduced under Hans-Dieter Flick but the German still chose to stay at the club and fight for his place.

Boateng has featured only 15 times in the league for the Bundesliga champions, totaling 1134 minutes of action.

His decision to stay at the club proved to be a good one, with the German starting all but two of Bayern’s games since the turn of the year.

But with just over a year remaining on his current deal with the club, his long-term future is still in doubt.

And according to Christian Falk of German publication Bild, Chelsea have now joined Arsenal in being interested in a move for Boateng.

Frank Lampard has tried out different rotations in the heart of the defense and is still looking out for a solid centre-back, according to reports.

Mikel Arteta is also thought to be keen to improve his defensive options, despite the possibility of tying January loan signing Pablo Mari to a permanent deal.

Despite his age at 31, Boateng still has a lot to offer any team, boasting loads of experience to his name as well.
