Chelsea have reportedly lost ground in the potential signing of wantaway Kai Havertz in the summer.
Kai Havertz’s heroics with Bayer Leverkusen in the 2019/20 Bundesliga season quickly saw him emerge as one of Europe’s hottest prospects.
Havertz has been linked with a move away from BayArena long before the initiation of the three-month lockdown. And with him netting in 12 goals in his final 17 games, the transfer talks have only picked up more steam since football’s resumption.
Chelsea, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich are all understood to be keen on landing the attacking midfielder.
Bayern Munich essentially dropped out of his chase with CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge saying the club, having already signed Leroy Sane, lack the financial strength to spend lavishly in the summer.
Liverpool also made a similar case for themselves as Jurgen Klopp earlier revealed that the loss of matchday income has left the club financially crippled.
