Following the imminent signing of Timo Werner, Leicester’s Ben Chilwell is the latest player Chelsea have opened talks with regarding a potential move.
Ben Chilwell is the latest name Chelsea are plotting to add to their ranks.
The Blues have been hailed so far for good business following a deal in principle that would see Timo Werner join the club.
It’s more remarkable because Liverpool were poised to sign the forward and Chelsea made their move in literally no time.
And according to reputable journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are not taking things slow with the Blues looking to secure other deals almost immediately.
It would appear Chelsea have now opened talks with Leicester City over the potential signing of Ben Chilwell.
“Chelsea are also in talks with Leicester to sign Ben Chilwell. The left-back wants to join the club – he knows Lampard wants him,” Fabrizio posted on his Twitter account.
“Nicolas Tagliafico is on Chelsea list as an option if Chilwell deal will collapse. Werner deal almost ok – on paperworks time since yesterday. #CFC.”
Chilwell has been linked to Chelsea for the past two seasons and it’s not a surprise it’s happening once again.
Lampard is believed to be a keen admirer of the England international and sees him as a long-term candidate for the Blues left-back spot.
Should Chelsea fail in their pursuit of the Foxes man, they could turn their attention to Ajax star Nicolas Tagliafico who would cost significantly less.
The duo of Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri have not done enough to impress Frank Lampard and it looks certain Chelsea’s next signing could be a left-back name.
