Chelsea will pursue two more incoming deals after completing the signing of Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz, reports say.
Chelsea are confident of landing Havertz regardless of the outcome of their efforts to secure Champions League football.
The Blues take on Wolves at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon, and avoiding defeat would propel them to the group stage of Europe’s elite club competition.
After sealing the deals for Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, Chelsea are a step away from making a third high-profile move, with Havertz set to arrive in London.
Despite already forking out approximately £80million on the abovementioned duo, Frank Lampard will splash out another £90million on the German prodigy.
But, per Express Sport, Lampard will look to add two more pieces to his jigsaw, with West Ham’s Declan Rice and Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico rumored to be his main targets.
Rice has been nothing short of outstanding since making a senior breakthrough in 2017 and is considered the hottest young prospect in the Premier League.
His composure and physical presence are rarely seen for a player of his age, as well as the ability to run the show with his typically high-octane performances.
Also, Lampard hopes to find a reliable long-term option for a left-back position after Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmier failed to live up to expectations.
Both players have had spells in the first-team, but neither has managed to convince the English manager.
Although Lampard holds a long-standing interest in Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell, the 23-year-old’s price tag scared him off already.
Hence, Tagliafico, who has already informed Ajax of his desire to leave, remains the most likely solution.
