Chelsea are planning a move for Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland if goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois leaves for Real Madrid.
Thibaut Courtois is in the final year of his contract and has won two Premier League titles with the Blues. His agent has pleaded with Chelsea to let the Belgian shot-stopper join Real Madrid.
It’s been reported earlier today that Thibaut Courtois failed to report to Chelsea training with the rest of the players returning today, in a bid to force through a move to the Bernabeu.
Chelsea does not want to sell the 26-year-old until they have a capable replacement. Sky Sports reports that the West London club have switched their attention to Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland. It is understood that Everton refused to negotiate over England’s No 1 Jordan Pickford.
There has already been an informal contact between Chelsea and Stoke City over a possible deal for Butland. Stoke City are prepared to let Butland leave.
The Sky Bet Championship club are asking for fees around £30m, but want any possible deal resolved as soon as possible, so they would be able to find a replacement.
