Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour has been promoted into Frank Lampard’s first-team squad.

Billy Gimour is now a permanent member of the first team squad at Chelsea, as per the club’s Twitter account.

The 18-year-old confirmed Lampard made him aware of this after their 2-2 draw against Leicester City.

Gilmour will now battle to see more minutes under his belt and admitted his career at Chelsea is taking the right path.

“It’s a massive moment for me and I’m really happy,” he said.

“I went with the squad to Leicester and even though I wasn’t involved, the gaffer pulled me afterwards to tell me that after the winter break I’d be with the first team permanently.

“It’s a dream come true for me. It’s the first big step I think, moving into the first-team dressing room at a club like Chelsea. It’s massive for me.”

Lampard highly rates Gilmour and is hopeful the youngster can be pivotal for Chelsea in coming years.
