Giorgio Chiellini admits it was beyond his imagination to predict that Cristiano Ronaldo would be playing for Juventus.
Real Madrid fans were left heartbroken when in July 2018 the announcement was made that Cristiano Ronaldo had called time on his nine-year stint at the club.
Ronaldo, after arriving at the Spanish capital in a then world-record transfer, helped Los Blancos scale new heights of success as he led them to multiple Champions League and La Liga glories, among a plethora of other title wins.
Scoring a mouthwatering 450 goals in just 439 games, he fabricated his legacy as the club’s record goalscorer as well as arguably the best player in their history.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner currently plies his trade in Serie A with Juventus where he continues to do something he loves very much – break old records and set new ones.
FIrst Juve player to score in 11 successive league matches, the fastest player to reach 50 goals for the club, most goals in a single season for Juve (a joint record), are some of the records that he already has to his name.
“He was certainly a much-feared opponent, who unfortunately made me lose many games because he often scored against Juve. But sometimes we also managed to beat him,” Giorgio Chiellini told in an interview with Italian publication Fanpage.
“Since we took him it was an added value. I didn’t think he could come and I was really happy to be able to play, in my career, with such a champion.”
