Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen is remaining focused on matters on the pitch rather than on speculation linking him with Real Madrid
The 26-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Real recently as talks over a new deal at Spurs appear to have stalled in recent months.
Last week, manager Mauricio Pochettino reiterated his desire for Eriksen to commit his long-term future to the club with the Dane’s current deal set to expire in June 2020.
Latest reports now suggest that Spurs may sell Eriksen for £100m to Real rather than risk letting him leave for free at the end of next season.
But Eriksen insists his focus right now is on being successful at Spurs instead of thinking about the rumours surrounding his future.
“It’s not something I’m thinking of,” Eriksen told TV3 Sport.
“I’m focused on playing football, there are many games to think about and which must be won.
“It is not the first time that there have been rumours.
“When the newspapers write something, it is not something we are in control of.
“If there is nothing concrete, then I just comment on rumours.”
The Denmark international then revealed that there have been positive talks with Spurs recently.
Eriksen added: “I think people know what I want, and I know what they (Tottenham) would like.
“There are good discussions ongoing so there is nothing there.”
Eriksen played the full 90 minutes as Spurs defeated Chelsea 1-0 at Wembley in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final clash on Tuesday.
