Christian Pulisic opened up on just how much “great guy” Frank Lampard has helped him out since he joined Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund.
Prior to FIFA’s two-window transfer ban, Chelsea signed Pulisic in January for €64m before loaning him back to Dortmund. He then spent the remainder of last season in Germany, where he helped BVB finish second in the Bundesliga.
The 20-year-old has since linked-up with his new team-mates, and got off to a promising start at Stamford Bridge.
Pulisic has played in all five of Chelsea’s matches this season, with the last four of them being starts. So, it seems he’ll become a crucial member of Lampard’s line-up with ex-Blues striker Tony Cascarino even tipping him to fill Eden Hazard’s boots.
For Pulisic, though, a big part of the reason for his strong start to life in England is down to manager Lampard.
“It’s amazing. I mean, it’s everything I hoped it would be and more,” the winger told reporters in a press conference.
“It’s incredible. It worked out really well, for sure.
“Frank’s a great guy and he’s helped me so much and he understands where I’m coming from and he’s done a really good job and helped me, teaching us, especially a lot of the younger guys on the team.”
While Pulisic is yet to open his scoring account for Chelsea, he has provided two assists in his opening four appearances.
The USA international is currently preparing for Saturday’s friendly against Mexico in New Jersey. While it’s only an exhibition, Gregg Berhalter’s men will likely seek revenge following their CONCACAF Gold Cup final defeat to El Tri in July.
Pulisic will then play one last friendly with Uruguay in Missouri before reporting back to Chelsea.
