Huddersfield Town have announced that they have agreed on a new three-year deal with centre-back Christopher Schindler
After joining the Terriers in the summer of 2016 from 1860 Munich for a then-record fee, Schindler has become a key member of the squad by helping them win promotion to the Premier League in his first season.
While the 28-year-old’s original contract still had another two years left, Huddersfield have decided to award him with an extension until 2021 and the option for a further season afterwards.
“We all knew that Schindy was a top performer after his first season at Huddersfield Town, but his quality really shone through as we played in one of the best leagues in the world last season,” manager David Wagner told the club website.
“We’re absolutely delighted that he has signed this new contract at the club. It’s as good as any news or incoming that we had success with during the summer transfer window.
“As well as being a superb player, he is a top character in the dressing room too, a real leader.”
Schindler made 37 appearances for Huddersfield on their return to the Premier League last season.
