Manchester City’s latest acquisition Ferran Torres has revealed he never wanted to leave Valencia and was forced out of the club.

Ferran Torres is the latest signing for Manchester City and is perhaps the spark to ignite Pep Guardiola’s summer rebuild.

It’s customary for a new player to talk about what he has always admired in his new club, it is a dream move, and working with this manager is an unbelievable opportunity.

You get the picture. So when Torres reveals how he never wanted to leave his old club and that he was forced out and one day he would like to go back. I’m not sure that is what Guardiola and company were wanting to hear after spending twenty-something million Euros on him.

Speaking to Marca, he reveals the troubles time he had at Valencia, but his strong love for the club.

He said:

“I started thinking about it last summer after the European Under-19 Championship. The club told me personally that they weren’t counting on me. They literally said that I was the fifth winger in the squad, that reinforcements were coming and other players from other positions were ahead of me.”

“It was a very hard blow for me, but what was worse was that they even put me on the market and offered me to teams in Spain.”

“I’m sure I can return to Valencia one day. I refuse to think otherwise.”

It is clear he still has affection for his home town.
