Manchester City are ready to get ahead of the competition for the signature of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio.
Pep Guardiola’s side have been monitoring the Serbian’s performances and it now appears that the Catalan manager has been persuaded by his qualities and for this reason, he wants to have the player as soon as possible.
According to Calciomercato, Manchester City are planning a January bid for the central midfielder. However, this will undoubtedly alert both city rivals Manchester United and Juventus, as the two have also been linked with a move for Milinkovic-Savic.
With Fernandinho and Yaya Toure’s contracts set to expire next summer and considering Ilkay Gundogan’s fragility, Guardiola wants to make sure that he will have adequate resources for the central midfield department. Having received favourable reports about Lazio’s player, Guardiola has reportedly sanctioned the move and all that is left now is for the two clubs to agree on the transfer fee and the player to negotiate personal terms.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic impressed this season for Lazio. The 22-year-old scored two goals and provided one assist in Serie A this season for Simone Inzaghi’s team. In addition to that, he has the same numbers in Europa League as well.
