Wolves captain Conor Coady praised the effort of his teammates against his former club Liverpool after the 2-1 FA Cup win at Molineux.
Raul Jimenez’s first-half goal was cancelled out by Divock Origi’s powerful strike after 51 minutes, only for Ruben Neves to upstage him with a superb 30-yard effort with the hosts withstanding some late pressure.
‘It was almost going to be a nervy ending when you are a goal up and you have to defend but we stood tall and strong and it is a hell of a victory for everyone,’ as cited by the Daily Mail
“Liverpool are a fantastic club but we had a game plan and played the way we wanted to with the identity we wanted to show. It was pleasing for everyone.”
Match-winner Neves felt the performance highlighted the potential the club has to go on to better things.
“It was a very good game for us. I think we did well against a very good team,” he said.
“We want to play that way every game but sometimes it is difficult but we showed again we are a great squad who can do great things.”
