Colchester put up a fight but United power to a 3-0 win

Colchester United put up a spirited fight against Manchester United, but the Premier League side eventually powered to a 3-0 in the Carabao Cup.

United dominated the game from the first whistle.

The lower division side was not taken lightly by Ole Gunnar SOlskajer fielded a strong side.

Especially in a competition that is often reserved for younger players to gain experience.

The Norwegian wasn’t taking any chances against a side that had already seen off Tottenham and Crystal Palace

Marcus rashford had a wasteful first half.

The England international waste no less than three clear cut chances.

His first touch appeared to be a little wayward tonight.

Colchester would have snatched your hand off if you had told them they would be drawing 0 – 0 with the mighty Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The second half was a different story though.

The Red Devils came out much like the first half. They were dominant from the start.

It was only six minutes after the break that they got their first.

Marcus Rashford finally finding his scoring boots on.

There then ensued ten minutes of ruthless madness.

The host added a second, which saw Colchesters Jackson try to cut out a dangerous cross from Mason Greenwood.

Jackson tried to stop Rashford from meeting the ball, only to put it in his own goal for 2-0.

Then five minutes later Anthony Martial got in on the action with number 3.

United will now face cross-town rivals Manchester City in the semi-finals.
