Aston Villa have announced that Steve Bruce will continue with his role as the club’s manager, despite Thierry Henry having recently been linked to the post
The former Manchester United defender has had his own future at Villa Park put into major doubt of late following the club’s takeover last week.
New majority owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens have now added some badly needed money into Villa following previous owner Tony Xia’s financial troubles.
But reports had emerged that the new owners were looking for a new manager and that Henry was being lined up as the man to replace Bruce.
However, Villa have now officially denied these rumours and insists that the 57-year-old has their “full support”.
“Aston Villa can confirm manager Steve Bruce has met majority owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens and will continue as manager with their full support,” read the club statement.
Since taking charge of Villa in 2016, Bruce has since overseen 42 wins in his 89 matches in charge.
