Antonio Conte is pleased with the fact that Inter Milan were not shying away from challenges in last night’s match against Getafe.
A 2-0 win over Getafe saw Inter Milan progress into the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
Romelu Lukaku gave his side the lead three minutes after the half-hour mark. Moments after stepping onto the pitch, Christian Eriksen, who came as a substitute for Marcelo Brozovic late in the game, doubled the lead.
Antonio Conte’s men will now face either Rangers or Bayer Leverkusen in the last eight of the competition in Dusseldorf, Germany on Monday.
Speaking after the match, Conte was pleased with what he saw from his team.
“We knew just how difficult the match would be. We expected it to be a ‘dirty’ game and we were not afraid to get dirty with them. That’s a great sign, as it’s that determination to get stuck in and fight for every ball, something we missed at times this season,” he said, as SempreInter reports.
“Progressing in Europe is also a chance to gain experience. I’m happy with the performance.
“It was a positive evening. I’m glad that the lads proved they want to keep going and aren’t ready to go on holiday yet.”
