Inter Milan finished second in Serie A after dismantling Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta in their final game of the 2019/20 season.
Antonio Conte has revitalized Inter Milan since arriving at San Siro. The Nerazzurri were top of the table for the first half of the season but could not sustain their title assault.
The long vigors of the season were tough and Inter had a learning experience. They need numbers to supplement their first team. Conte called for it and might get it next season.
Their first season under the former Chelsea and Italy manager has seen them improve but the job is not done.
They still have a long way to go and need more additions. But one player holding out for his role is Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgian joined from Manchester United a year ago and has been amongst the goals. He scored 23 goals after missing all but two games for the Italian giants.
Conte stated that he worked tirelessly to bring Lukaku to San Siro and believe he will be a worthy addition.
“I’m the only one who knows what I did to get Lukaku here. Trust me. It wasn’t a piece of cake. Now we’ll give our best in the Europa League and then we’ll do our general evaluations, not just the tactical ones. We have to find normality,” Conte said as per Sempre Inter.
Lukaku himself is optimistic. He stated that the season has finished but their work has not. He added the fans should expect him to deliver again as he will continue to work hard.
“Serie A is finished but we’re still building and going the right way,” Lukaku wrote in an Instagram post.
“Thank you for supporting the team throughout this season. To all of my team-mates, you guys have been wonderful. I would give my all for you guys every single day.”
