Antonio Conte insists that Inter Milan do not have the money for a big-money signing this winter.
It appears that Inter and Conte’s new signings this winter will be determined by how far they can stretch their budget.
Conte is intent on adding to his squad as he tried to push past Juventus at the top of Serie A.
However, he ha also confirmed that money does not grow on trees in Milan and he will have to wheel and deal to make additions.
In an interview reported by Goal, he is on the hunt for bargains, but the quality is paramount.
“There is not much money, the director has been clear.”
“We must be good at finding situations that can bring us benefits.”
The former Juventus and Chelsea boss is under no illusions of the difficulty of his task. But he has some targets already identified that fit the bill.
“We must find cheap opportunities, otherwise I see it being hard.”
“The ideas are there, if there is the possibility, we will improve.”
“What you can’t get with the money you have to get with intelligence and wit.”
There is also talk of a bargain buy from Chelsea in Olivier Giroud.
