Conte to lure Smalling to San Siro

Antonio Conte is looking to lure a fourth Manchester United player to the San Siro as he targets the addition of Chris Smalling.

A decade after joining Manchester United, Chris Smalling is on his way out. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not want him at Old Trafford.

He has overstayed his welcome. After all, Wayne Rooney questioned Sir Alex about Smalling and Hernandez’s addition to the dressing room.

Smalling is not a spent force and still has plenty left in the tank. He was spectacular on loan at AS Roma.

He is back after United didn’t allow him Europa League adventures with the Romans. The Red Devils have set a £21 million asking price for him which has put off the Italians.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport has reported that Inter Milan are interested in adding Smalling to their ranks. Antonio Conte favors the defender and would like him in the dressing room.

The only hitch is United’s asking price. Inter will not pay United the £21 million they want. If previous deals are of any significance, the Nerazzurri will get him on the cheap.

It will be interesting how this transfer develops as Inter raid Old Trafford for the fourth time. Alexis Sanchez, Ashley Young and Romelu Lukaku are already at the club and would welcome Smalling’s addition.
