Ciro Ferrara believes that Antonio Conte would have preferred to have signed Arturo Vidal rather than Christian Eriksen.

Conte and Inter Milan conducted some shrewd business over the winter.

Conte wanted a couple of wingers and a midfielder.

He got all three.

Ferrara a one-time Juventus player and the manager believes that the likes of Moses and Young were no brainers for Conte.

However, in an interview reported by Football Italia, he is not so convinced about Eriksen. Ferrara thinks that had Vidal been attainable the Eriksen deal would have never happened.

He said:

“Antonio Conte would’ve preferred that Inter sign Arturo Vidal rather than Christian Eriksen.”

“Antonio explained it very well, Eriksen needs time to settle into and understand certain tactical mechanisms.”

“Ashley Young and Victor Moses could slot right in because they’re on the wings, all they have to do is go up and down.”

“The Inter midfield is already strong, it’s about keeping the right balance.”

“In my view, Conte would’ve preferred that Inter sign Vidal rather than Eriksen in January.”

The deal may still happen in the future.

Where would that leave Eriksen?
